OUR APPROACH
At Imaginarium we believe it is essential to see, nurture and educate the whole person.
We love to blend inspiring lessons with joyful moments, times of stillness and plenty of opportunities to move our bodies in the fresh air. We believe the warm and welcoming environment we have created encourages curiosity and allows time and space for us to know and understand each child.
COLLABORATIVE
We spend many hours, days and weeks planning and prepping lessons that we hope will feel joyful and meaningful to the children – but we always make sure to leave room for changes of direction and diving down the odd rabbit hole too! This is what we mean by collaborative – we love to get input and inspiration from the children, we invite their questions and encourage them to take ownership of their projects.
PROJECT BASED
Each term we choose an overarching topic – projects have included biodiversity, history of chalk downlands, great artists, Dr Seuss, Japan and lots more. The children explore each topic in a variety of ways covering multiple subjects including maths, English, science, history, geography, art and music. We love learning outdoors, inviting inspiring visitors in to talk to the group and taking trips out together.
SOCIAL
We know the social dynamics of the group are vitally important to creating a space where children feel comfortable to be themselves whilst also feeling like a part of something bigger. Plenty of time and space is given to nurturing friendships, listening and talking through worries, building resilience through acknowledging all our emotions and overcoming any issues that arise – as a group.
ADVENTUROUS
We believe in educating the whole body – not just the mind! We play group games and sports at the park but also love a good hike along the river or a stomp up the hill. We try to get outdoors – whatever the weather – learning about plants and animals around us, stopping to climb a tree, have a paddle in the stream or forage for foods to cook up on a campfire back at the hall (nettle pakoras are a firm favourite!)
